Dia de las Islas Baleares

March First – Balearic Day. WHOOOP! The Balearic islands are so gorgeous -Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera. Have you been to all of them?

Here is one of my favorite beaches in Mallorca. I call it the Secret Beach because it can be a bit tricky to find if you don’t know about it. But it’s true name is Caló des Moro.

Man, am I ready for summer. See you at the Secret Beach!

Women’s March Signage

THANK YOU! To all the women (and men!) who participated in the Women’s Marches around the world. I got tears in my eyes seeing all the incredible images from Washington D.C. to Paris to Kenya to India! WOW. Thank you for fighting for our rights. Human Rights. And we will continue to fight. I loved all the signs – some funny, some serious and some on animals. 🙂 Here are some of my favorites. GIRL POWER.

Winter Solstice

Today, December 21st 2016, marks this years Winter Solstice. In Mallorca, the longest night is a very rainy one and I’m looking forward to the days getting longer, the sun climbing higher in the sky.

I did a little investigating. What exactly IS this solstice stuff and what I found was pretty interesting. It’s a time for new growth and renewal. Time of letting go, releasing old patterns, rekindling hope, welcoming the light, seeking new inspiration and beginning a new cycle.

Take the day or the rest of the days of December to acknowledge what you need to let go of, how would you like to grow in the coming year, how do you want to live in the coming year. Not easy questions. I will do some soul searching myself. Happy Winter Solstice.

Mallorca from the ISS

How cool is this? Taken from the International Space Station, you can see Mallorca the big island at the bottom, Spain is to the right in the picture. The small (but loverly) island of Cabrera is at the top far left of Mallorca and then you can see Ibiza and further on Formentera “above” Mallorca, with Africa at the top of the picture.

I REALLY love this pic. Maybe it’s a framer?

Volcano Freak Out

I must say this volcano eruption that is causing all the travel chaos is thrilling! Never have most European airports been closed for this long of a time. So far Madrid is still open so I could fly to the states at any time. But maybe it will close. Actually I have been constantly clicking on the interactive map from the online New York Times, I am obsessed with a volcano and I love it.

I have read stories of people scrambling for seats on the trains, the Eurotunnel, a ticket for a ferry. A journey that was supposed to be a simple two-hour flight turned into a 20 hour trip to get home. Taxi drivers are making buckets of money driving people all over Europe.

And scientists warn that the activity of the volcano has increased with no signs of slowing. Wow. I am completely enthralled.

* Look at that kickass header…up there! That is a closeup of just a smidge of one of my recent paintings.
