It’s that time of the year again in Mallorca.
The almond trees are blossoming and all over the island are beautiful, white, bright pink and light pink flowers. When you drive around all you see are fields and fields of almond trees with stark white flowers filling up the the whole space. So gorgeous.
And they smell heavenly. Ahhhhhh, now cue the allergies.
We’ve been having TONS of rain here in Mallorca. Here is my favorite pic from the craziness. But seriously rain, I’m done.
Happy New Year Y’all! Let’s rock this one. Felix and I have a New Year’s Day tradition of walking on the beach near sunset. First sunset of 2017. LOVES!
Today, December 21st 2016, marks this years Winter Solstice. In Mallorca, the longest night is a very rainy one and I’m looking forward to the days getting longer, the sun climbing higher in the sky.
I did a little investigating. What exactly IS this solstice stuff and what I found was pretty interesting. It’s a time for new growth and renewal. Time of letting go, releasing old patterns, rekindling hope, welcoming the light, seeking new inspiration and beginning a new cycle.
Take the day or the rest of the days of December to acknowledge what you need to let go of, how would you like to grow in the coming year, how do you want to live in the coming year. Not easy questions. I will do some soul searching myself. Happy Winter Solstice.

How cool is this? Taken from the International Space Station, you can see Mallorca the big island at the bottom, Spain is to the right in the picture. The small (but loverly) island of Cabrera is at the top far left of Mallorca and then you can see Ibiza and further on Formentera “above” Mallorca, with Africa at the top of the picture.

How did I get so lucky to live on this island?
Ahhhhh, the almond trees! How I love thee. Your tasty fruit, your beautiful blooms, your old stooped trees! The almond trees are blooming in Mallorca now and they are such a beautiful sight. Even with the dark rainy clouds we have had the past few days the white to bright pink flowers stood out so amazingly gorgeous against that grey backdrop.
Go drive around the island and check them out! Don’t forget to support your Mallorcan farmers and buy some almonds at one of the many markets around the island. They are delicious!
