M’encanta el otoño!

HAPPY FIRST DAY OF FALL!!! I so so SOOO love fall. Or is it autumn? Which one do you call it? Here in Spain it is otoño.

Cooler weather, time to take the sweaters and jackets out from storage, crisp air, the changing colors of leaves, Halloween (my most favorite holiday), pumpkins, Thanksgiving, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh….

And here on the popular tourist island of Mallorca – less tourists!! Yippee! What is your favorite thing about fall?

Cómo Te Llamas?

I think I have found my perfect t-shirt for the first day back to teaching my English classes. (Yes, I know it is not in English, but it is a good conversation starter). Check it out here, there are also many other items with this design – bags, baby tees, even a dog tee. I might have to order the bag too…..

Five things

Heyo! Been in a bit of a writing slump but hope the break that soon. Today is list five things off the top of my head.

1. Where the hell did summer go? A rainstorm (which was quite needed) started on Thursday and is still off and on. I loved it the first day – ahhhhh, fresh clean air. But now it has cooled off and I realized I wasn’t ready for summer to be over yet. Please come back!

2. I always start dreaming of what I am going to do, where I am going to be on my birthday in October. I get about a month to think of so many ideas. Last year was the big 4-0 (shhhhhhhhhhhhh) and I didn’t get to really celebrate it in the big 4-0 style because my mom was having surgery and I was there to help her with everything that goes along with being sick and having a big surgery. And don’t get me wrong, I was so happy to be there for my mom. If she needs me, I am there, whether or not I am having a milestone moment. My mom is all recovered so I get to celebrate it right this time. I’ve been dreaming of Morocco…… who is coming with!? But it might just be a ferry ride to the island of Menorca. Or Cornwall? Or NYC? OR DISNEYLAND!??!?!?! Please help me.

3. I feel like I’ve been so lazy this month. Wait, August is over. I feel like I was so lazy last month. There, I said it.

4. Does anyone know how I can make like a million dollars easily? I have so many things on my new favorite shopping site Shopbop.com that I want to buy. Would love some Rag & Bone jeans, Frye knee high boots, J Brand skinny jeans, a Tory Burch clutch… I could continue for about a year.

5. Decided I am not cooking tonight. It’s either going to be calling Tropi Pizza for a delivery or driving to S’Arenal for a döner (that is a gyro to you English peeps).

Tell me what’s rattling around in your head. Bu bye.

Kiehl’s!!

Do you love free samples? Of course you do! And if you don’t, then you might have a serious problem….

Kiehl’s just opened a store in Palma, Mallorca (on Passeig Des Born). FINALLY! I love Kiehl’s products and now they are practically in my backyard. And you get 3 complimentary samples with every purchase. How awesome is that? There are so many products that I love and many that I still want to try. Isn’t the store in Palma cute? I love the skeleton.

Here are my top 5 favorite products:

1. Blue Herbal Gel Cleanser – This makes my face feel squeaky clean. Plus it helps breakouts.

2. Pineapple Papaya Facial Scrub – This stuff smells amazing and makes my skin feel smooth and refreshed.

3.  Amino Acid Shampoo –  This lathers up nicely and has coconut oil in it so it smells delicious and makes my hair smell delicious too!

4. Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado – With avocado oil it gentle moisturizes the eye area.

5. Rosewater Facial Freshener Toner – This gently refreshes and tones the skin. Great before putting on makeup.

Eat ~ Mallorca SA PLACA

Sa Placa restaurant is a lovely place to enjoy tapas. It is located in the small town of S’ Alqueria Blanca in the southeast corner of Mallorca.

Tapas are a wide variety of appetizers. In Spain they have become very popular and ordered in larger quantities that they become a meal. A fantastic meal at that. It always seems to happen to me that the other people I go to dinner with order the better food. But not with tapas! You share tapas (at least you are supposed to) with everyone at the table because they are ordered as a small or a large plate. Obviously the larger the group, the larger the plate and the amount of tapas ordered. Three of us went the other day and we ordered six small plates of tapas and it was the perfect amount.

Sa Placa is a great restaurant to take visitors to, or if you are a tourist on the island then you need to go. The town is small and adorable and the restaurant is right next to the church. They have expanded it so you can sit outside and watch the cars go by – one of my favorite things to do.

My favorite tapas: goat cheese with figs, sobrasada pastry, meatballs in a spicy tomato sauce, shrimp with garlic, black pudding (blood sausage), croquettes, dates with bacon (my total fav), pimientos de padron, patatas bravas and the calamari. Excellent. The other day we had the lamb and the pork which I was not very fond of, they tasted old, no taste actually. I would say stick with the easy favorites and order a nice bottle of Spanish wine to wash it down with.
