This is, hands down, my favorite Christmas song. The original version of course was by my birthday soul mate, Mr. John Lennon. But I love The Corrs and this version is so excellent it gives me chills.
For you, with EIGHT days til Christmas ~ So this is Christmas, War is over
This is MUCH more exciting than my post from yesterday. Trust me. Take the hottest tune in the past few months, add some Christmas lights to the beat and viola! Instant magic.
If I had the time or patience to do this to my house in Mallorca I would – AND it would be the hit of the entire island!! Not too many people get that crazy with light and decorations here. But I am going to put up a few tomorrow to get in the spirit. Granted and sadly, it won’t be Gangnam Style but it will be festive!
And now, your Christmas Light Show – Gangnam Style.
What you have all been waiting for! A new Track Tuesday, it has been awhile.
Y’all, I truly love this song! Winners of this year’s CMA award for best vocal group and best single of the year goes to Little Big Town’s song “Pontoon”. Who knows how much I would have liked country music if I had not moved to Oklahoma when I was ten years old from Madison, WI but I sure do love it.
The video is fun and someone please tell me the exact definition of “motorboatin”. 😉 Watching it makes me want to call up a group of friends, rent a pontoon and hang out on it for the summer on Lake Keystone. Maybe Lake Powell in UT, that is one gorgeous place right there. Let’s go! Who’s with me?
Oh my gosh, Track Tuesday cannot get here fast enough!! It has been a long time since I have fallen in love with a song. But here I go again! Head over heels! (Which means it is on permanent rotation here). Check in on Tuesday to take a listen. You are gonna LOVE IT!
Here is a hint – CMA. Awwwww yeah……
I know you all are dying to hear about my trip (yup, righhhht) but with the death of Adam Yauch (MCA) yesterday I feel I must express my love for the Beastie Boys. I know nothing will replace the trio, maybe the Beastie Boys will go on but it will never be the same without MCA.
I wore out my Licensed to Ill tape by playing it constantly in my Buick Electra in high school (and college), then bought it on CD and when that was ruined, I downloaded it and burned my own. I know EVERY SONG. No Sleep Til Winterpark was shoe-polished on the side of Linda’s parents van on our 1988 Spring Break trip. And I am sure that tape was blasting the entire drive from Oklahoma to Winterpark, CO. Plus the fact that we decided to mosh as much as possible but after waking up the next day with each of us having what felt like a case of whiplash we scrapped that idea.
I mentioned I know every song on Licensed to Ill, and I ain’t kidding. My personal best is Paul Revere but Brass Monkey and She’s Crafty are in close second. I still believe my boyfriend is quite impressed when I finish all the lyrics (even without it being on) to Paul Revere. It is either amazement or horror from him, haven’t figured out which is which yet.
Hey Ladies, So Wha’tcha Want, Pass The Mic, Intergalactic were my other favorites. But their last album, Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, I really enjoyed. So I guess I have two great bookends from them, their first and their last album.
Rock on MCA, hope you and my cat are rapping it out up there.
As soon as I began to write I realized it was Tuesday! And this could be a Track Tuesday post. Music ROCKS.
Do you know this Christmas song? I remember learning it when I was a wee child at Sangre Ridge elementary school in Stillwater, Oklahoma. I start singing it around the first of December and randomly throughout the year. If you know me personally, you know that is completely normal for me.
It is usually sung as a round (and I LOVE singing in rounds!!! I don’t know why… is that a mental problem?) It is also I believe an English (meaning UK) Christmas song and maybe I am just getting back to my roots – my Grandpa on my father’s side was almost, if not, 100% English. So, listen up, have a spot of tea if you wish and sing along! And if you have some friends by you, then by George, strike up that round.
Oh, and if any of you can tell me what a ha’penny is, I would really ‘preciate it. Cheers!
Christmas is coming the goose is getting fat
Please put a penny in the old man’s hat
If you haven’t got a penny then a ha’penny will do
If you haven’t got a ha’penny then GOD BLESS YOU
And if I don’t make it back online before Sunday, a blessed Christmas to each and every one of you.
